Security Test Pass for Global’s Doors

Our doors pass the first of three tests…

After the Grenfell Tower Fire shook the industry and the nation, Global took a step back from manufacturing our fire doors whilst new legislation appeared, so that we had time to fully understand the new rules around fire protection and safety. This January, we took another step closer to the re-launch of our door fabricating division, by conducting the PAS 24 Physical Security test with Element Materials Technology on our composite fire doors.

Our new composite doors went under their first of three physical tests to measure their security. The doors were fabricated in our unit by our team, then made their journey to Element Materials Technology in Wednesbury for their Physical Security Testing. In order to conduct the test, the technicians at Element used various different tools in order to test whether the door could withstand the efforts of an ‘opportunistic burglar.’

Triple Safety

At the same time as we develop and test our Global doors, we are working to develop and test ourselves. Whilst we are already BM Trada Q Mark accredited on Fire Door Installation and Fire Door Maintenance, we are working closely with BM Trada to gain our Q Mark in Fire Door Manufacturing with expected completion in Spring, so that the doors we provide can be as compliant as possible.

We’ve been working with Winkhaus to extend our skills and knowledge in fire door fabrication, making use of their expertise to ensure we are creating the safest possible solutions to our clients’ fire door requirements. The doors are triple Q Marked on Smoke, Security and Fire, meaning that as well as testing them to PAS 24, before launch, we will be testing them to EN1634, so we are confident that each and every door is as fire-safe as possible and in line with legislative requirements, and EN1634 part 3, attesting to is security against smoke in the event of a fire.

We were very grateful to Element Materials Technology for conducting the test so efficiently and professionally, and even happier to pass with flying colours! This is just another of many great steps we are consciously taking to ensure that every fire door we produce, install and maintain is as safe as it can possibly be. Fire Safety is at the core of everything we do, and ensuring our clients and their building’s occupants are protected is vital to our mission as a company.
